The PBYP gathering was held on July 7, 2024, in the evening from 6 PM at the Stewards of Nations training hall. Our gathering started with an ice-breaking activity to help everyone get to know each other, as attendees came from four different groups, making this activity necessary. 2-3 members from each group joined us, a total of 10 members, which we considered a blessing.
Then, Dr. Chaitanya Hepsibah led us to worship with God, creating contemplatively and congregating atmosphere for the group. Following the worship session, we divided the attendees into two groups and provided each group with a chart and a few sketch pens. We asked them to write down their learning points and unlearning points from the gathering. This activity encouraged participants to reflect on what they had gained from the discussions and what old habits or beliefs they needed to let go of in light of the new insights they had received.
Each group then selected two members to present their learning and unlearning points. Key insights shared included the understanding that both men and women are equal, the recognition that marriage is a lifelong commitment, and the importance of communication in marriage. Participants also learned the value of not blaming others, understanding the five love languages and the five apology languages, and adopting a mindset of “not I, but we” for a successful partnership. They emphasized the need for accountability and mutual submission, the importance of preparing oneself for marriage rather than having unrealistic expectations of one’s spouse and understanding that God intends for marriage to be a lifelong union.
Later in the meeting, we allocated time for Mr. Premdas, to speak about the importance of preparing for marriage. Premdas addressed several key aspects, starting with a comprehensive explanation of what marriage entails. He emphasized that marriage is not just a social contract, but a lifelong commitment that requires mutual understanding, respect, and shared values. He went on to explain why marriage is important, highlighting its role in providing emotional support, stability, and a nurturing environment for raising children. Brother Premdas also discussed the reasons for marriage, which include companionship, love, and the fulfillment of cultural and religious expectations. His presentation underscored the significance of proper preparation for marriage to ensure a strong and enduring partnership. The session was well-received and sparked thoughtful discussions among the attendees.
The gathering concluded with a vote of thanks from Mr. John Srikanth, who expressed happiness in hearing what everyone had learned from the PBYP groups. The event ended on a positive note with a simple dinner, allowing participants to further connect and share their experiences.
