The sixth monthly seminar held under the banner ‘Conscientia’ was based on the topic ‘CONFLICT MANAGEMENT’. As the title suggests, the session was conducted to give the audience a brief knowledge of the principles and strategies to use to deal with conflicts, which was decided by us as an important soft skill for all to have when navigating through different relationships in one’s life.
The session was held on 31st August, from 6 pm – 7 pm, and was led by Ms. Ponaganti Silvi Praharsha Blessie, who is pursuing her graduation in BA English Honors at the esteemed English and Foreign Languages University, Tarnaka. For the topic provided, ma’am decided to combine what she learnt from various workshops as well as what she has experienced in her life with regards to conflict.
The session began with the speaker listing out what she will be discussing in her lecture, starting with a brief explanation of what ‘conflict’ is, how it is different from the words ‘fight’, disagreement’ and so on. This was then followed up with the outlining of a few concepts that the speaker wanted the audience to understand about conflict. Next, she briefly mentioned and explained the 7 dos and 7 don’ts of conflict management, winding it all up with an effective conflict management strategy that combined these 14, and a reminder that it was okay to have conflicts, as every relationship learns and grows only when conflicts happen.
Overall, the seminar was successful, with a participation number of 11 attendees and a lively time of Q&A as the session wrapped up.
